Here is a list of programs for my
2011-12 Hear Me Out!, lecture tour. I can speak on a combination of
these topics for one program or I can focus on just one. I will always
customize my lecture for your school! I am also available to lecture to
classes while I am visiting your campus. I enjoy
meeting with students, faculty and staff at no extra cost to your
school. Please make sure when you book me, to let me know if you want
me to come to your school early and meet with your students, or to stay
after my presentation is over. I want you to have a successful event
for your college and community.
I'm available to do a lecture/power
point presentation for groups interested in my film project and the
Matthew Shepard murder. I'm also available for discussion of the gay
hate crime of Matthew Shepard for performing groups presenting the
play, The Laramie Project.
Lecture programs:
An Evening with Greg R. Baird
This program will open your eyes and hearts as I will share with you my
own coming out story, finding myself along the way and how that impacted my life and the lives of the
people around me. I will also share with you stories of
people that I have met in my travels and how they dealt with their
coming out to their families and loved ones. This lecture
will give all audiences both gay and straight the insight on how
unconditional love, acceptance and community benefit everyone. Everyone will learn how to be the voice of change in their own lives.
Hate Crimes & Bullying
This speech is
geared for those who long for community, acceptance and embrace
diversity. The lecture will discuss how hate crimes and bullying affect
everyone. The presentation will show how hate is learned in a family and
how an individual will
seek to feel a since of belonging to a hate group. Hate crimes not only
affect the individual, but the whole
community. The bullying in schools needs to stop and I will address how
all schools can work towards a more supportive and proactive
environment for all.
Embracing a Diverse Community
In this lecture the audience is
taken on a journey to embrace a diverse student body for LGBTQ students
and inspire success and acceptance through an innovative curriculum,
campus activities and by holding students, parents, school and the
community accountable for results. This unique presentation
will share heartfelt and humorous stories to leave you motivated to be
the voice of change in your life.....and your community!
Being the Voice of Change in your Life
The biggest adventure that will
ever unfold in your life is you finding you! This lecture explores how
embracing a diverse community, being inclusive for the LGBT community
and giving back unconditionally to others takes you on the road of
being the voice of change in your life. How important is
embracing diversity in your community? How can we break down
the walls of fear in our life? How is giving back to others
the best gift you can give yourself? All these questions and
more will be explored in this presentation.
Discovering your Legacy & Being a Role Model
When I am traveling all over the U.S.A., I ask several questions to my audience to think about, and the world around them. What will your legacy be? What will people remember you for? What are you doing to foster a positive, healthy community? This program will inspire, motivate and educate the
entire audience the power one person has to make a difference, no matter if you are LGBTQ or straight. I will share with you stories and personal anecdotes that will inspire the audience to leave my lecture wanting to create change personally and within your own community. This lecture
will focus on the many unique events in Greg's life and the incredible
people who are making a difference in their communities.
Producing a Documentary: Matthew Shepard & Laramie, WY, Thirteen Years Later
On November
2, 2007, 89-Second Productions (www.89-second.com) and I teamed up for
a documentary film venture. We began filming in Denver, Colorado on
November 2, 2007 and then traveled to Laramie, WY. It was an
amazing shoot and so many great people helped us out. We met and
interviewed several people in Laramie and across the country that will give film watchers a
newer and moving experience about Laramie, Matthew Shepard and hate crimes. It was an amazing start to this documentary journey.
The film will attempt to tackle issues that have been brought
to light by Matthew's murder, such as hate-crime
legislation and the general affect this tragedy has had on people's
lives. In this multi-media presentation, I will share with you my
personal experience in the gay hate murder of Matthew Shepard, how
Matthew's legacy is still inspiring people all over the county, details
and myths from that horrible hate crime to Matthew, hate crime
legislation and the many wonderful people that I have been inspired by
on the way. The film is still currently in production.
